Da wir in Deutschland oft gar nicht mitbekommen was in Tschechien passiert, hat sich Karolína bereit erklärt darüber zu berichten. Die News werden immer auf englisch geschrieben, damit sie sowohl tschechische als auch deutsche Fans verstehen.
Marta in musicals
The main reason why Marta came back to Prague before 2 years was the part in the musical called Mona Lisa. Now the new musical is coming out, the premiere is on 24th February. Marta spent almost the whole January on rehearsals, every day till late evening practicing with other singers her role. After experience she has from previous musicals no one doubt she’ll be great. Marta said in one recent interview that she was not the actress and that acting was the hardest part for her. But she admitted she got used to it. “Many people wrote after the Mona Lisa that I was the great actress,” Marta laughed, but then she explained: “The character of Mona Lisa is really sad, she is crying all the time. And that was quite easy for me coz I have an allergy each time when I had to lay on the stage in the dust which is permanently here in Broadway. So I had dust in my eyes and the tears come themselves.” But in this musical Marta had two roles, not only distressful and shivery Mona Lisa but also her sister, who was mean and malicious. Two different women but both interesting to play.
This season is Mona Lisa not on the list of Broadway; anyway there are still 2 musicals which you could visit if you want to see Marta. Firstly it’s “Ať žije Rokenrol!” (Long live Rock and roll!). This musical was composed by Marta’s father Petr Janda and it’s about Rock and roll music in the time of communism. This gender was strictly prohibited and repressed because it came from the West. So the artists had to play on their own, secretly. But the musical is not sad, this topic is written with hyperbole and there are funny moments as well. Marta is playing a secretary. She is really gutsy, wearing red dress and high-hells. She is trying to help the bands and resist her boss, who is flirting with her all the time. There are two solos of Marta and both of them were written exactly for her. Especially the song called “My second me” is really touching.
And now the latest musical – Kat Mydlář (The Headsman Mydlář ). The story is about the legendary headsman, who executed 27 lords on the Old Town Square. The character is real but creators admit that they didn’t hold strictly to the facts as they wanted to make an interesting story with the historical background. Marta is playing girl named Dorotka who is the first love of Mydlář. She had the premiere on 25th February and from the response of the audience it was really successful. Marta as the academician on the “Czech Grammy”
The last Wednesday Marta joined the gala evening of the Czech television where the academy decided about the best singers and groups of the Czech music scene. These awards are sometimes called the “Czech Grammy” but their official name is Angels. There are many categories where the academicians should vote: the best female and male singer, the best group, song, clip… and others. Marta also devolved one award on the best group.
